The Beyond-GDP literature shows that GDP is not a direct measure of social progress. The economy is a means to an end, but not and end in itself. While the term "Beyond-GDP" reflects this, it does not indicate what the true goals of society should be. It only defines what we should not focus on. 

WISE stands for Wellbeing, Inclusion and Sustainability which are the targets of society. Beyond-GDP and WISE are therefore synonymous, but define the same phenomenon from a different perspective. 

Beyond-GDP is the term used to refer to the entire field that researches alternatives metrics to GDP. Many hundreds of indexes and indicator dashboards have been proposed in the past decades. The Sustainable Devlopments Goals process is probably the most influential Beyond-GDP inititative to date. It was initiated by the United Nations in 2015 and defines 17 goals (with over 200 underlying targets/indicators) which need to be achieved by 2030.
